While you know I bear no love for 4E, I don't have any special onus against WotC or the D&D brand either one. If I can manage to find another game I like out of this, so much the better. But you're absolutely right about Paizo's fingerprints being all over this move. It's as good as admitting Pathfinder has really hammered the brand and WotC's been powerless to stop it. The question thus becomes: do gamers want Paizo-lite?

For where I sit, though, WotC seems to have little hope but to pray that they do...

Re: Sands of Mars update

Wow. This is so gay. Not one fucking pony in the whole thing. You need at least one pony child molester, then you have a game.

Re: Half Life 2 — A very late review

Perhaps I am all to eager to see the medium mature to the point where the player is taken seriously as part-owner of the story.

I've been following some of the developer journals which have come out over on FFG's WH site and I can't say that they've been making jump for joy.

Having the "core" system divided up into 4 books seems nice at first but what happens when you misplace one of them? Having just the one book with everything in it is a lot more convenient then. There are also inconsistencies on how many players can play with the box set. The faq says I can play with as many or as few as I want but their advertisements say that there is only enough widgets for three + gm to use. Which is it?

Re: GenCon 2009

I've never played any kind of WH, and I don't know that I'm likely to do so, but, just going from what I've seen of it, the new box looks awesome. That's got to count for something, eh?

Re: Tacticion, A work in Progress (D&D 4e)

My inner prescriptivist needs me to type that it's spelled wrong.

Re: 47 Bottles of Beer on the Wall…

Addendum, I'm drinking the half bottle right now. Even though it's not finished yet, it's still a decent cup of stout. I can't wait for the Finished product! It's be crisper with the added carbonation and once cool.

Re: The Quest for a Quick Cider

Ideas - Substitute an equal weight of Maltose or pure malt extract for the honey.
Boil it exactly like you would a beer wort, but instead of the finishing hops, drop in a spice sachet, like cinnamon sticks and a few cloves.

Also, I'm pretty sure the brew store I found recently can provide lager yeast that will handle a 12-14% alcohol brew.
